Solution for low-temperature charging of CR2025 battery

 

Under low-temperature conditions, when the battery temperature is below 0, for battery packs without heating function, please charge immediately after discharging if the battery temperature is above 0, or put the battery in a warm room and wait until the battery temperature rises to above 5before charging. If it is a battery pack with heating function, please pay attention to whether the charger is working when charging. Please disconnect the charger as soon as possible after fully charging, and do not ignore it for a long time after fully charging.

 

1. Heat the battery pack

 

If you do not consider heating the battery pack, it is basically impossible to achieve no capacity loss, after all, your temperature is -25 degrees; such a low-temperature environment is a simple normal temperature charging, and low-temperature discharge will cause loss of battery capacity, not to mention that you have to charge at low temperature. Recommended measures: heat the battery pack.

 

For low-temperature charging of ternary batteries, our company's single battery (30Ah) can only guarantee that it can be charged and discharged at 0without causing battery loss. If the module is to be charged and discharged at -25, it is recommended to do external heating. In addition, it has little to do with voltage. As long as lithium is embedded in the negative electrode during charging, lithium precipitation may occur.

 

2. Reduce the charging speed

 

At -20, if the ternary lithium battery is charged at a speed of C/30, the final capacity is only 77% of the nominal capacity. If the charging speed is reduced to C/100, the final capacity can reach 100%, but it takes 4 consecutive days to fully charge a battery. Therefore, you can consider slow charging first to increase the battery temperature, and then switch to fast charging. The BMS of some car companies also has this function, such as charging to 20% at a speed of C/5, and then charging at full speed.

 

3. Increase the battery temperature

 

Charge in the room as much as possible, such as an underground parking lot. Some car companies with good thermal management systems can definitely greatly improve the battery life of electric vehicles in the cold winter.
