6 minutes to charge 85%! Ultra-fast charging CR2032 button cell is available

 

According to foreign media reports, CR2032 button cell manufacturer Magnis Energy Technologies partner Charge CCCV has developed a battery that is said to allow electric vehicle manufacturers to change the rules of the game in the electric vehicle industry. This unoptimized electric vehicle battery showed particularly fast charging results during testing and can be charged 85% in 6 minutes.

 

According to Magnis, the ultra-fast charging CR2032 button cell developed in cooperation with Charge can make electric vehicles more flexible by shortening charging time. In addition, the battery can also bring more convenience to electric vehicle drivers and may increase the operating time (range) of the vehicle.

 

Recently, Magnis accelerated its plan to build the iM3 TSV battery plant near Townsville, Queensland, Australia, and the Woodstock 18GWh CR2032 button cell plant has also received strong support from the state government and received a $3.1 million investment grant. According to Magnis, the plant is expected to cost more than $3 billion and directly create 1,150 jobs.

 

Magnis' partner Charge has been at the forefront of fast-charging battery technology development, while also working to maximize battery charging efficiency and battery life.

 

The battery uses Charge's proprietary high-voltage biomineralized lithium metal-phosphate hybrid cathode and anode materials, and final user system-level testing will be carried out in the coming months.

 

The first 25 to 50kWh battery pack prototype (about the size of a Nissan Leaf battery pack) will be tested, with an energy density of 99% of the energy density of existing lithium batteries and a range comparable to that of a battery of the same size.

 

The key difference is charging time, and if Magnis' claims are confirmed, it will take future pure electric car owners the same amount of time to charge their cars as it does to refuel gasoline and diesel cars today.
