Unlike the two-dimensional lithium ion transmission channel of traditional carbon negative electrode materials, lithium titanate materials are spinel structures with three-dimensional fast lithium ion transmission channels. The lithium insertion potential of lithium titanate negative electrode is about 1.55V (vs. Li+/Li), which is much higher than the reduction potential of metallic lithium. Even fast charging under low temperature conditions is difficult to precipitate lithium dendrites, ensuring the safety of lithium titanate batteries in a wide temperature working range. In addition, the lithium titanate material itself has extremely low conductivity. When the battery is punctured, the puncture point is instantly discharged and insulated, achieving separation from other parts of the electrode and effective control of the failure range. Even in extreme abuse, the non-flammability of lithium titanate itself and the lower exothermicity of failure reaction relative to graphite negative electrode will greatly reduce its failure risk and the degree of danger after failure. 2. Application cases of lithium titanate batteries

At present, the power-type 8.5Ah battery cell is mainly used in the field of fast-charging buses. It was first industrialized in 2014 and applied in batches to Beijing Bus Route 102 trackless buses.

 

So far, it has been in operation for more than 4 years without any battery safety failures, and regular factory maintenance and calibration have not shown obvious capacity and power attenuation;

 

Energy-power-type 25Ah and energy-type VDA40Ah battery cells are customized products developed in the field of rail transit. The company has successively provided multiple energy storage systems for the Changzhou tram project, the Delingha tram project, and the "Fuxing" standard EMU.

 

Among them, the Delingha tram equipped with 25Ah energy-powered cells runs on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, which is currently the highest-altitude tram route. The operational feedback results show that MGL Power's lithium titanate products can withstand the harsh environment of high cold and low pressure; the "Fuxing" EMU equipped with VDA40Ah energy-powered EMU was tested in April 2018.
