　　At the time, it looked like the technology would have to wait until at least 2010 to be used on mobile phones. But a few years later, we still have to charge our phones every night.

　　What's going on? It turned out that in 2009, M2EPower announced that its development focus would shift to the automotive market. A month later, Motionetics acquired it.

　　Motionetics is also a company that develops kinetic energy technology, so our hopes don't seem to be completely lost. But unfortunately, this company focuses on applications in special fields. In addition, there is basically no information about this company on the Internet, only a few old news and a defunct website, so it seems that Motionetics may no longer exist.

　　We managed to get in touch with former M2EPower president Eric Apfelbach and asked him what exactly went wrong. Obviously, the technology used by M2EPower includes a compressed peak linear magnetic field, which they claim can have a higher power density than traditional fixed magnetic fields and therefore can generate more electrical energy.

　　But unfortunately, the calculations surrounding this technology were wrong, and it had little prospect of commercial application. Motionetics acquired them in the hope of applying the technology to projects of the U.S. Department of Special Operations.

　　Apfelbach later founded a company called ZBBEnergy, which mainly develops and sells energy storage and power control technology, but kinetic phone chargers are no longer among their products.
