It is reported that this new technology is mainly developed by doctoral student Qusay Bkour and Gene and Linda Su Ha, professor of chemical engineering and bioengineering. This is a unique and inexpensive nanoparticle catalyst that enables the fuel cell to convert liquid fuels such as gasoline into electrical energy without pausing in the electrochemical process, which will ultimately help to achieve efficient gasoline-powered vehicles with low carbon dioxide emissions, because carbon dioxide emissions are one of the causes of global warming.
Why promote fuel cells?
From a macro perspective, fuel cells have the same strategic position as pure electric batteries. First, they get rid of dependence on petroleum energy and realize resource renewable; second, as an emerging technology industry, they can stimulate the development of the domestic economic environment; third, they effectively control road emissions and improve the urban environment.

Why is it difficult to popularize fuel cells?
Although fuel cell technology is good, it may be more difficult to promote than pure electric vehicles. Toyota, which has reached the pinnacle of hybrid technology, cannot drive fuel vehicles, which is a good example. The reason is that the cost is difficult to overcome, including the cost of hydrogen production, hydrogen fuel transportation, hydrogen fuel storage, etc. A hydrogen refueling station with a hydrogen refueling capacity of more than 200 kilograms costs more than 10 million yuan, and the infrastructure is too difficult.
The second is the problem of technical strength. Looking around the world, only Toyota, Honda, and Hyundai have made achievements in fuel cell vehicles.

Since fuel cells convert chemical energy into electrical energy, they are naturally more efficient than mechanical work. Due to the high cost of catalysts in previous fuel cell technology, the promotion has been continuously hindered.
