12V23A battery belongs to the primary cell in chemical power source, which is a disposable battery. It uses carbon rod as positive electrode and zinc cylinder as negative electrode to convert chemical energy into electrical energy to supply external circuit. In chemical reaction, zinc is more active than manganese, zinc loses electrons and is oxidized, and manganese gains electrons and is reduced. 12V23A battery is not only suitable for flashlight, semiconductor radio, tape recorder, camera, electronic clock, toy, etc., but also suitable for various fields of national economy such as special, scientific research, telecommunication, navigation, special, medicine, etc., which is very easy to use.

 

Generally, 12V23A battery is mostly manganese-zinc battery, with positive carbon rod in the middle, a mixture of graphite and manganese dioxide on the outside, and a layer of fiber mesh on the outside. The net is coated with a thick electrolyte paste, which is composed of ammonium chloride solution and starch, and a small amount of preservative.

 

The main working principle of 12V23A battery is that the redox reaction is realized in a closed loop. The electrode reaction formula of alkaline zinc-manganese dry cell is: Zn+2MnO2+2NH4Cl=ZnCl2++Mn2O3+2NH3+H2O

 

The cylinder made of metal zinc skin is the negative electrode. The battery discharge is the electrolysis reaction of ammonium chloride and zinc. The released charge is conducted by graphite to the positive carbon rod. The electrolysis reaction of zinc will release hydrogen, which will increase the internal resistance of the battery. The manganese dioxide mixed with graphite is used to absorb hydrogen.
