  Lithium ion batteries (referred to as "lithium-ion batteries") are commonly used in vehicles, and their service life is an important factor affecting the development of electric vehicles. The control technology for the charging and discharging time, current, and temperature of lithium batteries is the key to affecting their lifespan. For a single lithium battery, both over discharge and over charging can shorten the battery life. For most lithium batteries, the termination discharge voltage is 2 5-2 75V (depending on manufacturer). Continuing to discharge below the termination voltage is called overdischarge, which can cause damage to the battery. Overcharging can cause the battery to heat up and also shorten its lifespan. For lithium-ion batteries used in vehicles, their suitable operating temperature is 45-60 ℃. Excessive temperature can cause battery degradation and shorten battery life; If the temperature is too low, it will cause the battery to power off and unable to output sufficient current. Lithium ion batteries are not suitable for high current discharge, as excessive current discharge can reduce discharge time (resulting in higher internal temperature and energy loss), which may be a weakness of current lithium battery technology. Therefore, in electric vehicles, lithium battery packs composed of numerous small lithium batteries are used, which can output a larger current from the battery pack. The battery pack on the Audi A1 e-tron is composed of 96 lithium batteries, and the temperature, voltage, charge and discharge current and other status information of each lithium battery are monitored by the power electronic system to ensure that the lithium battery pack operates in a suitable state.

  The voltage range of lithium batteries is 2.8V~4.2V, with a typical value of around 3.6V. The voltage plateau of ternary lithium batteries is relatively steep;
