　　Inspired by the structure of biological spines, Guoyu Qian and others at Columbia University developed a flexible lithium-ion battery that maintains good flexibility while maintaining the advantage of high volumetric energy density.

　　The basic structure of a flexible battery can be divided into a trunk and branches connected to the trunk. Such a structure not only ensures good flexibility of the battery, but also greatly improves the energy density of the flexible battery. When LiCoO2/graphite is used as the active material, the volume specific energy of the battery with this structure can reach 242Wh/L.

　　In the electrochemical performance test, the cycle performance of the battery with this structure was not affected whether it was bent (bending radius 20mm, 10,000 times) or twisted (twisted 90 degrees 1,000 times), and cycled 100 times at a rate of 0.2C , the capacity retention rate can reach 94.3%, and the Coulomb efficiency reaches 99.9%.
