　　"When it comes to component development and production, we want to be able to cut costs in some way." Lars Stenqvist, chief technology officer of Volvo Group Truck Technology, told Reuters in an interview. "Not only truck brands, but also automobile brands and construction equipment in the future."

　　UDTrucks said it plans to launch a fully electric version of its Quon heavy-duty truck around 2020. Volvo had previously announced at the beginning of this month that it would launch medium-sized trucks powered by lithium-ion batteries for the European market in 2019 to complete tasks such as urban transportation and garbage delivery.

　　UDTrucks' rival in Japan, Mitsubishi Fuso, a subsidiary of Daimler AG, began selling the electric version of its Canter transport truck to the Japanese and U.S. markets last year, and began expanding to the European market at the beginning of this year.
