Different main requirements can also be distinguished within energy storage facilities for fixed installation purposes. For nighttime power storage to be converted into grid power represented by peak periods of daytime discharge, batteries are required to have large capacity, such as lithium batteries for energy storage facilities in building systems. For photovoltaic power generation and wind power generation, high-power batteries with high tolerance to output power changes must be used, because the output power of these two power generation devices varies greatly due to the great influence of natural factors.


With the transition and transformation of lithium batteries to large-scale applications, lithium batteries themselves are no longer capable of solving fundamental problems. Therefore, lithium-ion capacitors that combine the advantages of lithium-ion batteries and traditional double-layer capacitors have emerged, and there are also efforts to develop new redox flow batteries. New technologies are in the simultaneous research and development stage.
