Currently, there are two main types of secondary batteries used on the market: nickel hydrogen (Ni MH) and lithium ion (Li ion). There are two types of lithium-ion batteries that have been mass-produced: liquid lithium-ion batteries (LiB) and polymer lithium-ion batteries (LiP). So in many cases, the battery labeled with Li ion must be a lithium-ion battery. But it may not necessarily be a liquid lithium-ion battery, but it may also be a polymer lithium-ion battery. When using lithium batteries, it should be noted that after a period of storage, the battery enters a sleep state, and at this point, the capacity is lower than the normal value, and the usage time is also shortened. But lithium batteries are easy to activate, as long as they undergo 3-5 normal charging and discharging cycles to activate the battery and restore normal capacity. Due to the inherent characteristics of lithium batteries, they have almost no memory effect. Therefore, there is no need for special methods or devices during the activation process of the new lithium battery in the user's phone. For the "activation" issue of newly purchased lithium-ion batteries, there are numerous claims that the charging time must exceed 12 hours and be repeated three times in order to activate the battery. The statement that the first three charges require more than 12 hours of charging is clearly a continuation of nickel batteries (such as nickel cadmium and nickel hydrogen). So this statement can be said to have been misinterpreted from the beginning. There are significant differences in the charging and discharging characteristics between lithium batteries and nickel batteries, and it can be very clear that all serious formal technical materials emphasize that overcharging and overcharging can cause significant harm to lithium batteries, especially liquid lithium-ion batteries. Therefore, it is best to charge according to standard time and methods, especially do not charge for longer than 12 hours.
So does the battery need to be activated? The answer is yes, it needs to be activated! However, this process is completed by the manufacturer and is not related to the user, and the user does not have the ability to complete it. The real activation process of a lithium ion battery is as follows: the lithium ion battery shell is filled with electrolyte - sealed - formed, which is constant voltage charging, then discharged, and subjected to several cycles to fully immerse the electrode in the electrolyte and activate it until the capacity meets the requirements. This is the activation process - capacity division, which means that the lithium ion battery has already been activated by the user after leaving the factory. In addition, some of the battery activation processes require the battery to be in an open state, and then sealed after activation.
