  Abstract: An experimental study was conducted on the process of treating waste batteries by sintering. The results show that when the roasting temperature is 400°C and the time is 90 minutes, the mercury removal rate can reach more than 99%; when the roasting temperature is 1100°C and the time is 90 minutes, the dezincification rate can reach 95%; mercury removal and zinc removal When the final battery sample is added to the sintered raw material, when the amount is 1%, it has basically no impact on the quality of the sinter, indicating that this technology is feasible for treating waste batteries and can open up a new way for the treatment and utilization of waste batteries in my country.

  With the continuous development of the global economy and the widespread application of batteries, world battery production is increasing at a rate of 20% per year. According to statistics, in 2000, my country's battery production reached 17 billion units, consumption was 7 billion units, and per capita consumption was 616 units. It is becoming the world's largest battery producer and consumer country. At the same time, the variety structure of batteries has also changed from the original single type. It has developed to the current 14 series and 20 specifications. Waste batteries are usually disposed of by landfill or incineration. Various metals such as mercury, cadmium, lead, zinc, nickel and manganese can harm the environment and human health. The main objects of waste batteries in my country are zinc-manganese and nickel-chromium batteries, which contain a large amount of renewable resources. In order to avoid environmental pollution and waste of resources, waste batteries must be processed and recycled with value. Elements. The author of this article uses Shougang's mature smelting process and ready-made smelting equipment to develop a new waste battery treatment process.
