　　According to foreign media reports, researchers at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (also known as the University of Massachusetts Amherst) have developed a new type of non-traditional material that has extremely powerful heat storage and heat release functions. It may be used as a battery material.

　　The plastic-like polymer, called AzoPMA, has 100 times the heat storage capacity of water. If this material is further developed, it may be used to make thermal batteries in the future, which can be used to store solar energy and be used in smartphones and electric vehicles.

　　The AzoPMA material research and development team is led by Dhandapani Venkataraman, a professor of chemistry at the University of Massachusetts. The material is named after the abbreviation of the English name of azo-based polymer - "azobenzene-basedpoly (methacrylate) composition)".

　　AzoPMA can also store large amounts of thermal energy, allowing it to switch between two configurations or appearances, depending on its thermal energy. When the material is heated, its molecular structure converts into a high-energy form, helping to store thermal energy efficiently. As the material cools, it switches to a lower-energy form, releasing heat when necessary.

　　AzoPMA materials may also be used as non-combustible materials in solar-thermalovens, thereby reducing the harm to the human body caused by boiler flue gas in rural areas. In addition, the material can also be used in large batteries. It is worth mentioning that if the material is chopped and placed in the snow, it will help melt the ice and snow without the need for the use of electrical equipment.
