  In the past ten years, my country's photovoltaic industry has experienced a period of rapid development, but it has also exposed problems such as the low end of the industrial chain and blind expansion of production capacity. Zhuang Daming believes that for polycrystalline silicon cells that currently dominate the market, the photoelectric conversion efficiency of its components is between 15-18%, which is slightly higher than that of thin film cells. However, from the perspective of its entire life cycle, polycrystalline silicon cells have high purity of raw materials. The production process of silicon is highly energy-consuming and highly polluting. Thin-film solar cells represented by copper indium gallium selenide will gradually replace polycrystalline silicon cells and become the mainstream technology direction of future photovoltaic development. This has become the consensus of many academics.

  He said that one-sided judgment of the quality of solar energy technology based on conversion efficiency is a cognitive misunderstanding in the photovoltaic industry. Different technical routes are suitable for different application scenarios and need to be evaluated from the perspective of photoelectric conversion efficiency, manufacturing cost, service life, cost performance and sustainable development. For copper indium gallium selenide batteries, if the module can achieve a conversion rate of 14%-16%, it has reached a world-class leading level. In addition, copper indium gallium selenide has a long service life, and its power generation capacity is stronger than that of crystalline silicon at the same power. In the manufacturing process, it consumes less raw materials and has more advantages in terms of energy consumption and pollution.
