  Nowadays, smart batteries have been widely used in fields such as laptops, portable electronic products, uninterruptible power supplies, automobiles, security, communication, medical, aviation/aerospace, military, etc.

  A basic SBS system consists of the following components: System Management Bus (SMBus), Smart Battery Charger, and Smart Battery.

  The modular characteristics of SBS make it very easy to design a closed-loop battery charging system, which allows for the use of battery pack independent chargers (smart chargers), minimizing the non repetitive engineering (NRE) costs of hardware and software, and promoting a robust system, which is particularly important for high reliability battery backup applications. The high-precision barometer integrated into the battery pack can continuously and accurately monitor the battery, even when the battery is not in the system.

  Compared to non intelligent battery systems, intelligent battery systems require continuous information exchange with the host, adding complexity to the battery system.

  For example, in the intelligent battery system of a laptop, the host needs to interact with the battery system in real-time to determine when to charge or discharge the battery, and provide real-time battery capacity information to users.

  But it is precisely this information exchange that enables the host and user to more accurately grasp the status of the battery (including effective battery capacity, current charging/discharging rate, historical cumulative charging/discharging times, predicted lifespan, etc.), thus achieving targeted goals.
