　　According to foreign media reports, Fisker recently announced that its solid-state battery technology has received investment from heavy machinery manufacturer Caterpillar. Fisker did not disclose the specific amount of the investment, but said Caterpillar's investment in Fisker shows that both parties agree on the importance of electrification solutions to the future of multiple business units.

　　Fisker applied for a technology patent for this solid-state lithium battery as early as the end of 2017. The main feature of this solid-state lithium-ion battery is the use of thin-film technology used in solar cell manufacturing, plus the use of a new manufacturing process, which results in multiple accumulation layers inside the battery cell, and its surface area reaches 27 times that of conventional cells. , and the energy density of the battery is more than twice that of traditional lithium-ion batteries, which results in a greatly shortened charging time and a substantial increase in cruising range.

　　Fisker's new pure electric vehicle EMotion launched this year has a cruising range of up to 400 miles on a single charge. Unlike the first Fisker battery that relied on the A123 battery system, EMotion is said to use Fisker's latest battery technology.

　　Fisker said the patent-pending Fisker flexible solid-state battery costs less than $100 per kilowatt hour and can be used in the construction, energy storage, transportation and mining industries. The commercialization time of this battery technology is not yet known, but Fisker has previously said that it should be between 2018 and 2023.
