According to foreign media reports, the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory has developed a new battery aaa alkaline electrolyte formula designed to extend the service life and battery aaa alkaline capacity of the battery aaa alkaline, thereby increasing the cruising range of electric vehicles.
The researchers added fluorine-based solvents to the electrolyte, and the lithium salts will turn into salt clusters, which can form local spherical high-concentration lithium salts in the solution to prevent corrosion of the electrolyte and thereby avoid the formation of lithium dendrites.
Lithium dendrites are the dendrites or dendrite structures formed by the crystallization of lithium salts when they crystallize, and their appearance resembles snowflakes and frost flowers. Lithium dendrites can easily cause battery aaa alkaline short circuit, thus affecting the battery aaa alkaline life.
Moreover, the electrolyte concept of the battery aaa alkaline has been tested on laboratory battery aaa alkaline cells, but the size of the cells is only about the size of a watch battery aaa alkaline. Compared with traditional electrolyte batteries that can maintain battery aaa alkaline capacity after 100 charges and discharges, the newly developed electrolyte can withstand 700 charges and discharges, increasing the battery aaa alkaline life by seven times.
The cruising range of electric vehicles has always been an important reason hindering their development. Although the new concept of electrolyte cannot be applied to electric vehicle batteries for the time being, it allows us to see the rapid development of battery aaa alkaline technology.
As an important part of new energy, the performance of the battery aaa alkaline determines the overall performance of the vehicle to a large extent. So what are the mainstream new energy batteries currently on the market, and what are their characteristics? Let’s take stock.
Lithium iron phosphate batteries. Before electric vehicles switched to ternary lithium batteries on a large scale in 2017, many vehicles used lithium iron phosphate batteries as energy storage devices.
Lithium iron phosphate batteries have a relatively long service life. Generally, their cycle life can reach 2,000 times. And its thermal stability is the best among all lithium batteries. Its electric heating peak can reach 300-500°C. After exceeding 500°C, the internal chemical components begin to dissolve, which also fully guarantees its safety.
Moreover, the cost of lithium iron phosphate batteries is low, and the cost of batteries accounts for a huge proportion of a pure electric vehicle. Reducing battery aaa alkaline costs has a very obvious effect on improving the cost performance of the vehicle.
Although lithium iron phosphate batteries have many advantages, they also have some shortcomings, which have caused electric vehicle companies to turn to ternary lithium batteries. Its energy density is relatively low, and if you want to achieve a certain cruising range, you need a higher vehicle weight, which is obviously detrimental to controlling energy consumption.
In particular, my country's new energy policy subsidies have different subsidy amounts for different cruising ranges. However, due to its own characteristics, lithium iron phosphate batteries are difficult to increase in energy density, so they are gradually being replaced by ternary lithium batteries.
Ternary lithium battery aaa alkaline refers to a lithium battery aaa alkaline whose positive electrode material uses nickel cobalt potassium manganate ternary positive electrode material. Its biggest advantage is its high energy density, which can reach 200Kwh/kg, which is of great help to the lightweight design of the car body. And with the rapid development of the battery aaa alkaline industry, its price has also reached a position that is generally accepted by manufacturers.
However, the shortcomings of ternary lithium batteries are also very obvious. Its decomposition temperature is around 250-350°C. The decomposition of internal chemical components will release oxygen molecules. Under the action of high temperature, the internal electrolyte will burn rapidly, so the battery aaa alkaline may spontaneously ignite or Explosion hazard. However, with the advancement of technology and the widespread use of ceramic separators, the safety issues of ternary lithium batteries have been effectively improved.
Although nickel-metal hydride batteries are rarely mentioned now, they once dominated the electric vehicle market. The cumulative sales of HEVs equipped with nickel-metal hydride batteries have reached 10 million units worldwide. At present, except for Toyota's models, almost no other models are equipped with such batteries.
Nickel-metal hydride battery aaa alkaline is a kind of battery aaa alkaline with good performance. It is mainly divided into high-voltage nickel-hydrogen battery aaa alkaline and low-voltage nickel-hydrogen battery aaa alkaline. At present, the new energy vehicles we are exposed to use low-voltage nickel-metal hydride battery aaa alkaline.
Its energy density is not much different from that of ordinary lithium batteries. However, since the cell pressure of the battery aaa alkaline is only 1.2V, the volume of the battery aaa alkaline pack is much larger than that of lithium batteries when a certain voltage is required.
The last thing I have to say is the hydrogen fuel cell. Its basic principle is the reverse reaction of electrolyzing water. Hydrogen fuel cells have the advantages of high energy conversion efficiency, no pollution, long life and smooth operation, and they have no pollutant emissions because the product of the reaction is water.
Although hydrogen fuel cells have so many advantages, their shortcomings are also obvious. Its storage and transportation requirements are relatively high, and due to the flammable and explosive characteristics of hydrogen, the transportation process requires the laying of special pipelines.
However, the current supporting facilities for hydrogen fuel cell transportation are still not perfect, so hydrogen fuel cells have not been widely promoted and applied.
The rapid development of new energy vehicles cannot be separated from the support of battery aaa alkaline technology, and solving the battery aaa alkaline endurance has become the key to the problem.
As the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory develops new electrolyte technology, it is believed that more battery aaa alkaline technologies will be developed, and battery aaa alkaline cruising range will no longer be a pain point in the development of new energy vehicles.
