In recent years, compared with the rapid development of various electronic software and hardware, the power source of electronic technology-battery technology has not made any breakthrough progress in the past 100 years. All traditional chemical battery technologies are based on the release of chemical bonds. Calculating its theoretical maximum capacity seems to be difficult to meet the needs of modern people.
People have been waiting for many years, but the battery energy density improvement that has been waiting for does not seem to match the time. The real breakthrough in battery technology seems to be chasing an impossible dream. There is basically no possibility of revolutionary breakthroughs in the short term. The current technology is still limited to modifying various existing electrode materials. The emergence of new materials may bring some small surprises, but don't have too much hope. It will be difficult to achieve industrialization within a few years. The battery energy density is increasing too slowly, causing technicians to turn to the research direction of hardware power-saving technology.
Recently, a world-first, a super storage capacitor with a new principle was invented by a private battery research team in Jinzhou. The super storage capacitor cleverly combines the advantages of high charging voltage of flat capacitors and large electrode area of super capacitor batteries. According to the theoretical data, the energy density can catch up with or even exceed the lithium-air battery known as the "ultimate battery", and the power density, cyclability and charging speed are also far superior to existing batteries. Voltage U is the lower voltage value between the dielectric saturation voltage and the breakdown voltage of the diaphragm reached by the dielectric solution.
According to Mr. Gu Tiangang, the leader of the super capacitor team, unlike traditional flat capacitors, the activated carbon electrode of the super capacitor polarizes not the diaphragm but the liquid dielectric in contact with the activated carbon in the electrode pool.
The ingenious distribution structure of the electrode and dielectric of the super capacitor enables it to increase the plate area and charging voltage significantly while increasing the mass very little, thus obtaining a very high energy density. The current market materials can reach a level of 2-3 kWh/kg (including only the positive and negative electrodes and dielectric materials). When calculating the auxiliary weight of packaging materials, the energy density can still reach more than 1 kWh, which is far higher than the current mainstream lithium-ion battery level.
The super capacitor team has verified the key calculation formula of the super capacitor: C=ε*ε0*S/d in principle experiments, and will soon conduct experiments to screen suitable liquid dielectrics. It is foreseeable that if this technology is implemented smoothly as expected and achieves a major breakthrough, it will subvert the oil age and will have a huge impact on people's production and lifestyle, thus ushering in a new round of industrial revolution.
