Lithium-ion battery energy storage is currently the most feasible technical route. In recent years, as countries attach great importance to the development of electric vehicle technology, lithium-ion batteries with better comprehensive performance (including specific energy, specific power, rate capability, safety, charge and discharge efficiency, etc.) have been widely used in electric vehicles, making lithium-ion Batteries are developing rapidly, and their technological maturity is significantly better than other secondary batteries. Working principle of lithium-ion batteries Lithium-ion batteries are divided into two categories: liquid lithium-ion batteries (LIB) and polymer lithium-ion batteries (PLB). The positive electrode of the battery uses binary or ternary materials such as lithium compounds LiCoO2, LiMn2O4 or LiFePO4, and the negative electrode uses lithium-carbon interlayer compounds, mainly including graphite, soft carbon, hard carbon, lithium titanate, etc. When the battery is charging, lithium ions are deintercalated from the positive electrode, pass through the electrolyte and separator, and are embedded in the negative electrode material. At this time, the negative electrode is in a lithium-rich state and the positive electrode is in a lithium-poor state. At the same time, compensation electrons are supplied to the negative electrode from the external circuit to ensure the charge balance of the negative electrode. On the contrary, during discharge, lithium ions are deintercalated from the negative electrode, pass through the electrolyte and separator, and are re-embedded into the positive electrode material, and the positive electrode returns to a lithium-rich state. Hundreds of battery companies in my country have launched lithium iron phosphate battery products. More than 200 electric vehicles using lithium manganate and lithium iron phosphate batteries were used at the Shanghai World Expo. Many companies have launched electric cars using lithium iron phosphate batteries. Because lithium-ion batteries have application value in power grid peak regulation and distributed energy storage, my country has also carried out related research and demonstration work. The State Grid Corporation of China has established a research and testing platform for lithium-ion batteries, which can conduct comprehensive experimental research on the characteristics of different manufacturers and different types of lithium-ion batteries; it has also carried out the research and development of lithium-ion battery packs below 20kW to provide lithium-ion batteries. The foundation was laid for large-scale battery grouping; the requirements, influencing factors and related characterization quantities for battery performance in different cascade applications were systematically analyzed, and a detection and evaluation system for cascade utilization of lithium-ion batteries was established. BYD took the lead in building my country's first MW-class lithium iron phosphate battery energy storage power station in July 2016, which is used to stabilize peak loads and stabilize the output of photovoltaic power stations. State Grid Corporation of China conducted a joint operation experiment of a 1MW lithium-ion battery system and wind turbines at the Battery Energy Storage Laboratory of Zhangbei National Wind Power Research and Testing Center to evaluate the application of lithium-ion batteries in renewable energy power generation. China Southern Power Grid is building a 5MW/20MWh lithium-ion battery energy storage demonstration power station. The battery uses vehicle lithium-ion battery technology and is connected to the Shenzhen 110kV Biling Station with a 10kV cable. Its main function is to shift peaks and fill valleys. Lithium-ion batteries have been widely used in the field of energy storage in my country. The most influential and demonstrative Zhangbei National Wind and Solar Storage and Transmission Demonstration Project (Phase I) 14MW lithium iron phosphate battery energy storage system has been put into production. Public data shows that my country has 20 lithium-ion battery energy storage projects, with a total installed capacity of 39.575MW.
