I often hear people complain that my battery broke down or was not durable after only six months, and many consumers have the same experience. Lithium ion battery manufacturers often see people who buy laptops and remove the battery without storing it, but when they really want to use it, they can no longer use it. The root cause is their lack of understanding of lithium batteries and incorrect maintenance of the battery. If you can do the following, You won't be worried about similar problems anymore:
1. Do not allow the first charging time to reach 12 hours
When we purchase products with lithium batteries, many salespeople tell us that the initial charging of lithium batteries must reach 12 hours. Actually, this statement is not correct. Lithium batteries have been activated before leaving the factory, and their self discharge rate is very low, so we don't need to charge them for the first long time like regular nickel cadmium/nickel hydrogen batteries. Lithium batteries can be used when fully charged, usually after 3 to 5 complete cycles of charging and discharging (one complete cycle from full to full), the lithium battery can reach a good state.
2. Do not use inferior chargers
Many friends take great care of their digital treasures but overlook lithium batteries. When choosing a charger, if the original charger cannot be used, it is necessary to choose a brand charger with better quality and overcharge protection function. Poor quality chargers can cause lithium batteries to have a short lifespan, while in severe cases, they can explode the battery.
3. Do not overcharge frequently
Long term overcharging can keep the battery in an excited high temperature state, which is detrimental to both lithium batteries and chargers. Therefore, the standard for charging is to fully charge it. If the charger does not have overcharge protection function, it is likely to cause the lithium battery to catch fire or even explode.
4. Do not come into contact with metal objects
The contacts of lithium batteries need to be wiped regularly, but it is important to note that when storing and carrying the battery, the contacts should not come into contact with metal objects, as this can easily cause a short circuit in the battery and shorten its lifespan.
5. Do not frequently use in high or low temperature environments
Batteries have their own working and storage environment. Prolonged exposure to high or low temperatures can have a negative impact on the service life and lifespan of lithium batteries.
6. Do not use or not charge for a long time
If for some reason, digital devices and lithium batteries at home may be idle for more than 3 months, then we need to regularly charge a certain amount of lithium batteries and then store them (each charging amount accounts for 30% to 70% of the total battery capacity, depending on the storage time and battery capacity).
