At present, the important types of power lithium-ion batteries used in new energy vehicles are ternary lithium-ion batteries, cobalt oxide lithium-ion batteries, and iron phosphate lithium-ion batteries. Regardless of the type of battery, there will be a service life. The service life of power lithium-ion batteries is measured by the number of cycles used, and the more times they are charged and discharged, the shorter the service life of the battery. The national mandatory requirement for the number of cycles of power lithium battery cells is to be at least 1000 times. Generally, lithium iron phosphate can be used 2000 times, while ternary lithium-ion batteries can also be used 1000 times or more.
Different batteries have different cycle life. The cyclic service life of ternary lithium power batteries is usually around 1500 to 2000 times. Therefore, a simple number of charges will not affect the battery's lifespan. The lifespan of power lithium batteries will only be reduced based on the number of cycles. The number of charges cannot directly affect the service life of power lithium-ion batteries, and multiple charges in a single charge discharge cycle can only be considered as one cycle of battery life. Therefore, when choosing an electric vehicle, we don't have to worry too much about the number of charges that may affect the service life of the power lithium-ion battery
500 cycles is a common value for lithium-ion batteries, and the charging and discharging cycles for lithium-ion batteries made of different materials range from 300 to 3000 cycles. The actual meaning of this coefficient may vary from factory to factory, and can be roughly referred to as: under the manufacturer's specified charging and discharging rate (such as 1C discharge, 0.3C charging; charging from 0% to 100% each time, following this cycle), after 500 cycles, the battery capacity remains at the original 80%. If the positive electrode of the battery is well matched with the negative electrode of the lithium-ion battery, and the temperature control system and steps of the battery filling process meet the standard specifications, the unqualified rate of the produced battery will be very low. Moreover, the quality of the same batch of batteries should not have any major problems, and the relationship between the number of charging and discharging times of battery quality and usage habits cannot be estimated.
