1. Rechargeable lithium batteries are widely used in many new mobile devices due to their advantages of small (relatively) size, light weight, low self discharge rate, and no memory effect compared to ordinary nickel cadmium/nickel hydrogen batteries. The batteries of mobile devices such as mobile phones, laptops, and PDAs that we usually use have gradually been replaced by lithium batteries. The memory effect of nickel hydrogen batteries is not very obvious. One thing is that when it is urgently needed, it is not necessary to discharge the battery before charging. It is best to discharge the battery before charging it fully during normal use.
2. Lithium batteries have a high specific energy and are compact in size; The voltage of a single lithium battery is three times that of a nickel hydrogen battery; No memory effect, can be charged as needed. But it cannot be charged just once, as excessive charging and discharging can affect the battery's lifespan. Lithium batteries are not suitable for long-term storage, as they may permanently lose some of their capacity over time. It is best to store it in the refrigerator's freezer after charging it to 40%.
3. The charging requirements for lithium batteries are different from those for nickel cadmium/nickel hydrogen batteries. The single cell voltage of rechargeable lithium batteries is 3.6V (some battery blocks may be labeled as 3.7V). As the battery is fully charged, the voltage of the lithium battery will gradually increase, which is also a sign of whether the lithium battery is fully charged. Generally, manufacturers recommend stopping the charging voltage at 4.2V (for a single lithium battery).
The charging of lithium batteries generally adopts the voltage and current limiting method. If friends want to charge lithium batteries independently, they need to pay attention to the fact that its charging method is different from the constant current charging method used for nickel cadmium/nickel hydrogen batteries. Ordinary chargers for charging nickel cadmium/nickel hydrogen batteries cannot be used.
The safety characteristics of lithium-ion batteries: Lithium ion batteries have been widely used in people's daily lives, so their safety performance should definitely be the first assessment indicator of lithium-ion batteries. There are very strict international standards for assessing the safety performance of lithium-ion batteries, and a qualified lithium-ion battery should meet the following conditions in terms of safety performance.
1. Short circuit: no fire, no explosion;
2. Overcharging: No fire, no explosion;
3. Hot box test: no fire, no explosion (150 ℃ constant temperature for 10 minutes);
4. Needle puncture: non explosive (use a 3mm nail to penetrate the battery);
5. Flat impact: no fire, no explosion (10kg heavy object hits the battery from a height of 1M);
6. Burning: Non explosive (gas flame barbecue battery).
