　　Battery Introduction

　　1. What is a battery

　　A battery is a chemical power source, a device that directly converts chemical energy into electrical energy. It consists of two electrochemically active electrodes with different compositions, forming the positive and negative electrodes respectively. Two electrodes are immersed in an electrolyte that can provide dielectric conductivity. When connected to an external carrier, it can provide electrical energy by converting its internal chemical energy.

　　2. Differences and Similarities between Primary and Secondary Batteries

　　A battery can only be discharged once, and a secondary battery can be reused.

　　Secondary batteries undergo reversible changes in electrode volume and structure during discharge, so these changes must be adjusted during design, while the interior of primary batteries is much simpler as it does not require adjustment of these reversible changes

　　The mass specific capacity and volume specific capacity of a primary battery are both greater than those of a typical rechargeable battery, but the internal resistance (0.2-0.5 Ω) is much higher than that of a secondary battery, resulting in lower load capacity

　　In addition, the self discharge of a primary battery is much smaller than that of a secondary battery.

　　3. The electrochemical principle of nickel hydrogen batteries

　　Nickel hydrogen batteries use the same Ni oxide as nickel cadmium batteries as the positive electrode, hydrogen storage metal as the negative electrode, and alkaline solution (mainly KOH) as the electrolyte;

　　4. The main structural components of nickel hydrogen batteries are: positive electrode sheet, negative electrode sheet, separator paper, cap, shell, and insulation layer.
