In the cost structure of lithium-ion batteries, diaphragms account for 21%, positive electrode materials account for 19%, negative electrode materials account for 9%, electrolytes account for 13%, and other materials account for about 38%. The diaphragm has a high technical content. Therefore, although it only accounts for 25% of the cost structure of lithium-ion batteries, its gross profit margin is as high as 70%, which is the most profitable link.
The diaphragm is the last link in the lithium-ion battery industry chain to be localized. At present, most of the domestic high-end diaphragms rely on imports. With the promotion of policies and technological innovation breakthroughs, the process of domestic substitution will accelerate. The breakthrough path is first in the process, among which thinness becomes a trend.
With the development of the lithium-ion battery industry, domestic lithium-ion battery diaphragms in the domestic market have gradually entered the AA Ni-MH batteries circle. Domestic diaphragm battery manufacturers represented by Green in Xinxiang, Henan, Zhongke Technology, Foshan Jinhui Hi-Tech, and Gaoyin have grown rapidly. Compared with imported diaphragms, their products are only 1/3~1/2 of the price of imported diaphragms, and the procurement cycle is relatively short.
However, the thickness, strength and porosity of domestic diaphragms cannot be taken into account as a whole, and the stability of mass-produced batches is poor. The vast majority of domestic AA Ni-MH batteries manufacturers use imported diaphragms. Therefore, research and development of low-cost, simple manufacturing process, appropriate pore size, high porosity, and mechanical strength that can meet the requirements of microporous polymer diaphragms is of great significance to improve battery performance and reduce battery costs.
