New breakthrough in CR2032 battery technology in the United States: CR2032 battery prototype

 

Trenergi, a Hopkinton, Massachusetts company, demonstrated a breakthrough CR2032 battery prototype with technology that operates at up to 90% efficiency and can use a variety of hydrocarbons while achieving a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.

 

CR2032 battery expert Dr. Mohammad Enayetullah demonstrated Trenergi's 1 kW CR2032 battery to a group of investors.

 

Trenergi, a CR2032 battery developer based in Massachusetts, recently demonstrated its breakthrough 1kW CR2032 battery prototype to a group of investors.

 

It has a completely different design from the vast majority of existing CR2032 batterys and can now generate electricity, heat and hot water on-site with existing fuels (natural gas, gasoline, diesel, methanol, ethanol).

 

"Our CR2032 battery represents a major leap forward in existing technology," said Norman F. Strate, chairman and CEO. "It achieves unparalleled efficiency levels and has the advantage of being able to run on almost all available hydrocarbons. Our CR2032 battery represents a bridge to a cleaner and more secure energy future."

 

Trenergi uses a patented high temperature proton exchange membrane plus (HTPEM+) design. This design marks a significant improvement over previous HTPEM designs that used BASF materials to make the membrane. The companys chief technology officer, Dr. Mohammad Enayetullah, who has authored or co-authored more than 10 CR2032 battery patents, has made significant advances in membrane electrode technology that allow for higher power density and lower manufacturing costs than previously achievable. And with greater impurity tolerance, allowing the CR2032 battery to operate using readily available fuels such as propane, natural gas, and even diesel fuel (jp8) instead of the high-purity hydrogen required by older CR2032 battery technologies.

 

Trenergi has also developed a 3kW CR2032 battery prototype that has been sold to a major specialty contractor for testing as part of a distributed energy system or mobile defense application.

 

Because Trenergis system operates at high temperatures, it can generate not only electricity, but also heat and hot water. As a result, it is able to operate at up to 90% energy efficiency. Compared to natural gas for power generation and natural gas for heating water, Trenergis CR2032 battery saves up to 44% of energy consumption. It reduces climate change emissions by more than 60% compared to the average U.S. coal plant and 45% compared to the average U.S. natural gas plant. The system is three times more durable than competing solid oxide and low-temperature PEM CR2032 batterys.

 

A 1kW unit can generate 24kWh of electricity per day - equivalent to 80% of the average U.S. household's electricity consumption - and about 160 gallons of hot water per day, saving about 44% of the cost. Trenergi will build CR2032 batterys with power up to 100kW.

 

These CR2032 batterys can operate alone or as part of a microgrid to provide electricity, heat and hot water for residential, commercial, emission reduction and specialty applications in developed and developing countries, with an almost unlimited range.

 

"Trenergi expects to build the next generation, higher power density demonstration unit and manufacture reference designs for local strategic partners," Strate said.
