Electric vehicle CR2032 button cell battery research and development center gets zero-emission plan

The UK is looking to gain a seat at the forefront of the electric vehicle revolution, and to this end, the country recently approved the construction of a CR2032 button cell battery research center. The UK CR2032 button cell battery Industrialization Center (UKBIC) has been granted planning permission in Coventry, and the center will lead the cutting-edge research of CR2032 button cell battery manufacturing technology.

Last year, British Business Secretary Greg Clark announced that the government would allocate £80 million to support the construction of the center, which is located in the heart of the UK's automotive manufacturing. The center will bring together the forces of industry and academia to jointly develop various related manufacturing technologies - from CR2032 button cell battery chemistry and single components to building entire powertrains, with the goal of figuring out how to commercialize inventions.

Supported by the manufacturing department of the University of Warwick, local business organizations and councils, UKBIC hopes to end the UK's dilemma in industrializing major inventions. Jonathan Browning, chairman of the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership, said: "It's not a panacea, but it is an important step. It will help fill the gap between invention and industrialisation."
