When does a button cell battery cr1620 need to be replaced?

  1. Under what circumstances does the button cell battery cr1620 need to be replaced?

  1. Battery failure will cause the driving computer to become disordered.

Although the car mainly relies on a generator to provide power when it is driven, the battery only serves as an auxiliary function. However, if the voltage and current of the battery are unstable, it will inevitably cause chaos in the entire vehicle circuit and the driving computer, which is why a lot of fault lights will light up.

  2. The car starts abnormally

For example, when we usually hit the car once while driving, suddenly you need to hit it two or three times in the past few days to get it to work, and the sound is very noisy and loud, and it feels like the car has lost its power, then this is It's possible that your battery can't hold it anymore. Because the vehicle requires a relatively high instantaneous voltage when starting, 13.4 volts, and the battery needs at least half of the charge. If the battery voltage is lower than 11.8 volts before starting, it will be very difficult to start.

  3. Reduced battery capacity in winter may also lead to abnormal startup

However, abnormal startup may also be caused by other reasons. For example, the weather is too cold in winter, which will affect the capacity of the lead-acid battery. When the temperature drops by 1 degree below 25°C, the battery capacity will also decrease by 0.8%. This is why in winter, when we start the car in the morning, we will obviously feel that the starting speed has become very slow, especially for some older cars.

  4. Car lights dim when idling

Next, let’s talk about the third point, which is that the car lights will dim when idling. The headlights are usually good when the car is driving on the road, but when we park and idle, the headlights obviously dim. This may be due to something wrong with the battery. As long as the engine is running, it will drive the electric motor to generate electricity, but the amount of electricity generated by the electric motor is related to the rotational speed. If the rotational speed is smaller, the voltage generated by the generator will be smaller.

  5. The speed is low when idling and the battery cannot be charged normally.

The motor speed depends on the engine speed. When the car is idling, the speed is generally between 600 and 800 rpm, but the charging voltage is actually not enough at this time. The battery can be charged normally only at 1,500 rpm. It's like a hand-cranked flashlight. If your hand speed is faster, the light will be brighter. If your hand speed slows down, the light will naturally dim. Therefore, when parking and idling, the power required by the headlights mainly depends on the remaining power of the battery. Generally speaking, the standard working voltage of the headlights is 12 volts. If the battery is not in good condition, it will not be able to provide a sufficient voltage. The lights will naturally be dimmer than when the car is driving on the road.

  6. When idling, the speed increases too much when turning on the headlights.

Turning on the headlights when idling will increase the speed too much. The power of the car air conditioner is about 2000 watts, so if the air conditioner is turned on at idle speed, the battery power cannot support it, and the engine will increase the speed to help supply power, usually to about 1000 rpm. But the power of car headlights is about 50 watts, and two of them are 100 watts. Even if the engine speed increases, it will not be as obvious as turning on the air conditioner.

  7. The battery power is not enough and the engine needs to do extra work.

So if the speed of the car rises significantly when you turn on the headlights, it means that your battery is running low and you need to rely on the engine to do extra work.

  8. The air volume of the air conditioner becomes significantly smaller when idling.

We often need to idle and turn on the air conditioner, such as when waiting for someone on the roadside, but the time is usually not very long, and a normal battery can last for a while. But if there is an abnormality in the battery, if you turn on the air conditioner for 15 minutes, the wind will obviously become smaller, then it may be that your battery is not in good condition.

  2. Common faults of car batteries

  1. Plate vulcanization

If the battery is undercharged for a long time or left for a long time after being discharged, a layer of white, coarse-grained lead sulfate will gradually form on the plate. This substance is difficult to dissolve and reduce during normal charging. At the same time, this substance blocks the pores of the plate and hinders the penetration of electrolyte, resulting in a decrease in capacity, an increase in internal resistance, and a significant decrease in starting and charging performance. When charging, the charging voltage and electrolyte temperature will increase abnormally, and bubbles will occur prematurely, but the relative density of the electrolyte increases very slowly; when discharging, the voltage drops quickly.

  2. Self-discharge

After the battery is left for a few days, under no-load conditions, the amount of energy stored will decrease or even run out of power.

The main reason is: the electrolyte contains too many impurities (such as copper, iron, etc.), the relative density of the electrolyte is high, or the outside of the battery is not clean. For example, electrolyte is sprinkled on the cover, causing leakage between the positive and negative electrode columns. The battery discharges itself.

  3. A large amount of plate active material falls off

The active material mainly refers to the shedding of lead dioxide from the positive plate. During charging, brown substances in the electrolyte rise from the bottom to the surface.

  4. Internal short circuit

The open-circuit terminal voltage of the battery pack is too low, the starter runs weakly, or the voltage drops rapidly when starting; when charging, the relative density of the electrolyte in a cell rises very slowly, produces few bubbles, the temperature rises quickly, and the voltage is very low or zero. .

Main reasons: Some of the plates are arched, the separators are damaged, and excessive deposition of active material on the plates will cause short circuits of the plates.
