  On February 26 this year, the "Interim Measures for the Management of Recycling and Utilization of Power Batteries for New Energy Vehicles" jointly issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Commerce, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, and the Energy Administration mentioned that the implementation of production The extended liability system requires automobile manufacturers to assume the main responsibility for recycling power batteries. This measure will take effect from August 1 this year. Faced with the upcoming interim management measures, car companies have begun to lay out their battery recycling business. Among them, some car companies have chosen to cooperate with other companies to jointly promote domestic power battery recycling and other related matters.

  On January 4 this year, 16 complete vehicle and battery companies, including Changan, BYD, and Yinlong New Energy, reached a cooperation with China Tower Company, a major power battery recycling company, to solve problems such as the recycling and reuse of retired power batteries. In March this year, SAIC and CATL signed a memorandum of understanding on strategic cooperation, intending to further deepen cooperation and discuss jointly promoting the recycling and reuse of power batteries for new energy vehicles. This is also the second "marriage" between SAIC and CATL after announcing the establishment of a battery joint venture in 2017.

  In addition, Beijing BAIC Penglong Automobile Service and Trading Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of BAIC Group, recently signed the "Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement on the Recycling and Utilization of Retired Power Batteries" with GEM Co., Ltd. to jointly build a new energy vehicle power battery recycling system. Cooperation in circular economy fields such as cascade utilization of decommissioned power batteries, resource treatment of used batteries, recycling, dismantling and recycling of scrap cars.

  Battery processing technology and supervision still need to be improved

  The reporter learned that since 2012, policies and guidance covering power battery recycling and dismantling have been released almost every year. However, power battery recycling and other related industries are still in their infancy. In addition, so far, only a few car companies have carried out relevant layouts.
