Are ternary 27A battery more likely to spontaneously combust than lithium phosphate batteries?
According to the internal structure of power 27A battery, lithium-ion batteries are composed of four parts: positive electrode material, negative electrode material, diaphragm and electrolyte, while lithium iron phosphate batteries use lithium iron phosphate as the positive electrode material. Ternary lithium-ion batteries use lithium-ion batteries with nickel cobalt manganese oxide as the positive electrode material. Ternary lithium-ion batteries and lithium iron phosphate batteries have different characteristics, mainly focusing on energy density. Ternary lithium-ion batteries have a higher energy density, while lithium iron phosphate batteries have a lower energy density. For internal lithium ions, high energy density will be active.
Compared with ternary lithium-ion batteries, lithium iron phosphate batteries have a lower energy density. According to the material properties inside the battery, lithium iron phosphate batteries are resistant to high temperatures. Although the materials of these two electrodes will undergo internal decomposition when reaching a certain temperature, according to ternary lithium materials, batteries using non-aqueous electrolyte solutions. The chemical properties of lithium metal when it encounters heat are very active. At the same time, the heat resistance temperature of the battery is basically around 200 degrees. When the temperature reaches the heat resistance temperature, the chemical reaction of the ternary lithium material will be more intense, and the electrolyte will burn rapidly under high temperature use.
The heat resistance temperature of the electrode material of lithium iron phosphate is 500-800 degrees. It will not release oxygen molecules like the ternary lithium material, and the combustion is not so intense. The lithium iron phosphate material will not burn when it encounters a short circuit, and its high temperature resistance performance is much better than that of the ternary lithium-ion battery.
