April 15th (Zhou Hui Wulan) Hefei University of Technology reported on the 15th that the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of the school cooperated with Professor Huaiping’s research group and the research team of Professor Yu Shuhong of the University of Science and Technology of China to successfully develop a new type of super stretchable capacitor. For the first time in the world, real-time self-healing during charging and discharging has been achieved. The results were recently published online in the internationally renowned journal Advanced Materials. According to reports, the research results provide a new way to develop smart flexible energy storage devices, and are expected to promote the development of flexible and wearable electronic devices in the future. Stretchable supercapacitors have high mechanical flexibility and can maintain structural integrity and high conductivity during complex mechanical deformations such as bending and stretching. They can be used as energy storage devices for new wearable electronic devices and flexible bionic devices. The self-healing performance is particularly important for the capacitor to automatically repair its structure when mechanical damage occurs while maintaining the original conductivity and electrochemical performance. However, due to the lack of effective structural design and complete device configuration, the current stretchable supercapacitors have limited mechanical deformation capabilities, and the capacitor electrode layer and the electrolyte layer are prone to misalignment, which seriously reduces the device capacity and stability, seriously restricting the Practical applications of flexible supercapacitors. In response to this problem, researchers innovatively introduced dynamic metal coordination bonds during the monomer-initiated polymerization process, and successfully developed nanocomposite hydrogel electrodes and electrolytes with excellent stretchability and optical and electrical multiple stimulus-responsive repair properties. By further chemically welding a silver nanowire film on the gel electrode as a current collector, the team realized the use of rich metal-sulfur coordination between each layer and chemical bonding to build a supercapacitor with an overall configuration. Research has proven that this new supercapacitor has excellent flexibility and repairable supercapacitor properties. Experimental results show that the surface capacitance of this new capacitor is as high as 885mF/cm2, and the tensile strain can reach 8 times the original length. At the same time, based on the excellent intrinsic elasticity and self-healing performance of the electrode and electrolyte and the integrated device configuration design, the capacitor has fast photo-self-healing capabilities and efficient electrical real-time self-healing capabilities.
