Use of shake table
1. Selection of shake table
When selecting a megger, its rated voltage must be consistent with the working voltage of the electrical equipment or circuit being tested, and the measurement range should also be consistent with the range of the insulation resistance being measured. The following table lists some requirements for the selection of megohmmeters under different circumstances.

2. How to connect and use the megometer
The megger has three terminals marked with line (L), ground (E) and shield or guard ring (G). The connection method when measuring insulation resistance with a megometer is as shown in the figure
1. Measurement of insulation resistance of lighting and power lines to ground.
Connect terminal E of the megohmmeter to the ground reliably, and connect terminal L to the line under test. Shake the generator handle of the oscillating watch clockwise from slow to fast for about 1 minute. Wait for the pointer of the oscillating watch to stabilize and take a reading. At this time, the value indicated by the megohmmeter is the insulation resistance value of the line under test to ground, and the unit is megohms.
2. Measurement of motor insulation resistance
Disconnect the Y or Δ shaped connection wiring of the motor winding. Use the two terminals E and L of the megohmmeter to connect the two-phase windings of the motor respectively, as shown in the figure. Shake the generator handle of the rocker to read. This connection method measures the phase-to-phase insulation resistance of the motor winding. The wiring for measuring the insulation resistance of the motor winding to ground is as shown in the figure. Terminal E is connected to the motor casing (the paint or rust at the contact point on the casing should be removed). Terminal L is connected to the motor winding. Shake the handle of the rocking watch to measure the insulation resistance of the motor to ground.
3. Measurement of cable insulation resistance
The wiring method during measurement is as shown in the figure. Connect terminal E of the oscillator to the cable shell, connect terminal G to the insulation layer between the cable core and the casing, connect terminal L to the cable core, and shake the generator handle of the oscillator to read. The measurement result is the insulation resistance value of the cable core and shell.
3. Precautions for use
1. When measuring the insulation resistance of the equipment, the power supply of the equipment must be cut off first. Equipment containing inductors and capacitors (such as capacitors, transformers, motors and cable lines) must be discharged first. Non-duty personnel should apply for corresponding work tickets before they can work.
2. The oscillator should be placed horizontally. Before wiring, you should shake the oscillator and observe whether the pointer is at ∞. Then short-circuit the L and E terminals and slowly shake the watch. The pointer should be at zero. After open and short circuit tests, it is confirmed that the megohmmeter is intact before measurement can be carried out.
3. The lead of the megohmmeter should be multi-stranded soft wire, and the two leads should not be twisted together to avoid inaccurate measurement data.
4. After the measurement of the megometer is completed, the object under test should be discharged immediately. Before the megometer stops rotating and the object under test is not discharged, do not touch the measurement part of the object under test or remove the wires to prevent electric shock.
5. The surface of the object to be measured should be wiped clean and there should be no dirt (such as paint, etc.) to avoid inaccurate measurement data.
