The capacity of the battery decays rapidly at -10℃. After 100 cycles, the capacity is only 59mAh/g, and the capacity decay is 47.8%; the battery discharged at low temperature is charged and discharged at room temperature to test the capacity recovery performance. Its capacity is restored to 70.8mAh/g, and the capacity loss is 68%. It can be seen that the low temperature cycle of the battery has a great impact on the recovery of the battery capacity.

Charging of lithium-ion batteries is the process in which lithium ions are removed from the positive electrode and embedded in the negative electrode material through the migration of electrolyte. Lithium ions aggregate to the negative electrode, and six carbon atoms capture one lithium ion. At low temperatures, the activity of chemical reactions decreases, and the migration of lithium ions slows down. The lithium ions on the surface of the negative electrode have not yet been embedded in the negative electrode, but have been reduced to metallic lithium. They precipitate on the surface of the negative electrode to form lithium dendrites, which can easily pierce the separator and cause a short circuit in the battery, thereby damaging the battery and causing safety accidents.
It is best not to charge CR1632 battery in winter, because at low temperatures, the lithium ions embedded in the negative electrode will crystallize and directly pierce the separator, which will generally cause a micro short circuit, affecting the life and performance, and even directly explode in severe cases. So some people report that lithium-ion batteries cannot be charged in winter because some people with battery management systems are protected by the product.
