　　Several companies have previously successfully created partially transparent electronics, such as digital photo frames and mobile phones with transparent keyboards. However, because the key active materials in batteries cannot be made transparent or replaced with transparent materials, fully transparent e-book readers or mobile phones have not yet been developed. PDMS is very cheap, but it is not conductive. To do this, they poured PDMS into a silicon model to create a grid-like trench, and then let the vapor generated by the metal film float above the trench to create a conductive layer. They then poured a solution containing nanoscale effective electrode materials into the trench to create the electrode. Next, Yang Yuan modified a gel electrolyte so that it could serve as both an electrolyte and a separator. Because the materials used to make separators in conventional batteries are opaque, this is a critical step.

Light transmission tests show that the cell's transparency in visible light is 62%; the transparency of three cells stacked together is 60%, and the entire cell is very soft.
