LR41 battery.Which company is stronger in lithium battery technology_Who will dominate the competition between China, Japan and South Korea?

release time:2024-03-05 Hits:     Popular:AG11 battery

  Since the performance of different types of lithium batteries varies greatly in various aspects, the leading lithium battery companies on the market mainly come from China, Japan and South Korea. Each company's choice of lithium battery types is also different, and competition is becoming increasingly fierce. As power lithium batteries enter the era of oligarchy, our article in this issue will take a look at how the "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" between China, Japan and South Korea played out.

  China

  CATL: Relying on the technology accumulation of its predecessor ALT in the field of consumer batteries, it has grown rapidly through cooperation with BMW, its market share has continued to increase, and it has made remarkable achievements in the domestic power battery market. Mainly focusing on ternary lithium batteries, representative models include BMW X1, SAIC Roewe eRX5, Geely Emgrand EC7, BAIC EV200, etc.;

  BYD: A domestic traditional power battery giant, it specializes in lithium iron phosphate and has begun to lay out ternary lithium batteries, mainly square. It should be pointed out that BYD is now beginning to open up its supply chain system, and lithium batteries will be sold externally, moving from closed to open, and will directly compete with CATL. Its representative models are BYD electric vehicle series;

  Wanxiang A123: Maybe you are not very familiar with it. A123 was a company that developed and produced lithium batteries in the United States. It once cooperated with the National Space Administration of the United States, and its technical strength is evident. It was later acquired by China Wanxiang Group because it has strong technical accumulation in basic material research and development, has a lot of experience in lithium iron phosphate, and is also actively researching ternary lithium batteries. It currently occupies a place in the domestic electric vehicle market. Its representative model is the SAIC Roewe i6;

  Above we have focused on the leading domestic companies, which have all caught on to the "new energy" ride. Now let's look at Japan and South Korea.

  Japan

  AESC: A joint venture between Nissan and NEC, originally a power battery giant, it was gradually eliminated from the market because it chose the wrong lithium manganate (LMO) route. The representative model is the Nissan Leaf. I won’t mention it here anymore, but here is a picture.

  Panasonic: From the mass production of lithium-ion batteries for notebook computers to the acquisition of Sanyo Electric, it has become the world's largest lithium battery supplier. Deeply tied to Tesla, focusing on ternary lithium batteries, focusing on cylindrical packaging, representative models Tesla and Toyota Prius;

  Low temperature and high energy density 18650 3350mAh-40℃ 0.5C discharge capacity ≥60%

  Charging temperature: 0~45℃ Discharge temperature: -40~+55℃ Specific energy: 240Wh/kg -40℃ Discharge capacity retention rate: 0.5C Discharge capacity ≥ 60%

  South Korea

  LG Chem: Relying on its R&D experience in raw materials, it quickly made breakthroughs in lithium batteries and occupied a large share in the international market. It focuses on ternary lithium batteries and currently supplies Kia, Nissan, GM, Renault, etc., focusing on soft packaging, representing Model Chevrolet Volt;

  Samsung SDI: Mainly focuses on ternary lithium batteries. It is currently a supplier to Volkswagen and BMW. It focuses on square packaging and represents the BMW i3. It should be pointed out that the battery explosion accident of Samsung Note7 in 2016 attracted global attention, and its battery was produced by SDI;

  The figure below once again lists the comparison of the main technical routes:

  Add a little knowledge:

  Battery packaging is mainly divided into cylindrical rolled type (JellyRoll), square stacked type (RolledanStacked) and square rolled type (Rolledandpressed). The three packaging methods correspond to the three configurations of lithium-ion batteries. The cylindrical rolled type corresponds to the "cylindrical" type. Cylindrical battery, the square stacked type corresponds to the "Softpouch", and the square winding type corresponds to the "square" (prismaTIc). Each of the three methods has its own advantages and disadvantages, and the later forms will be further investigated.

  summary

  The following figure summarizes the current domestic mainstream electric vehicle and battery supplier system:

  According to gossip, when domestic new energy vehicles are currently announced for certification, if they use battery packs from international manufacturers such as LG or Samsung, they will not pass the certification. I don’t know if there is any influence of THAAD, which at least shows that the country is at a strategic level. Have your own considerations. We will wait and see who will dominate the battle between the Three Kingdoms.
