  Lithium cobalt oxide, with the chemical formula LiCoO2, is an inorganic compound generally used as a positive electrode material for lithium-ion batteries. It appears as a gray-black powder and may cause allergies by inhalation and skin contact.

  Generally used for lithium-ion secondary battery cathode materials, liquid phase synthesis process, which uses polyvinyl alcohol (pVA) or polyethylene glycol (pEG) aqueous solution as the solvent, and lithium salt and cobalt salt are dissolved in the pVA or pEG aqueous solution respectively. The mixed solution is heated and concentrated to form a gel. The resulting gel is heated and decomposed, and then calcined at high temperature. The calcined powder is ground and sieved to obtain lithium cobalt oxide powder.
