Through stepped utilization, extending the service life of lithium batteries can reduce costs.

For example, in 2014, the sales volume of new energy vehicles was 70,000. If it grows at this rate in the next five years, the number of new energy vehicles will exceed 400,000 by 2020. If an average single car is equipped with a 20kWh power battery, and after attenuation, the average capacity of each car is still 15KWh, even if only half of it is recycled, it is equivalent to recycling 3000MWh of batteries. If these batteries end up in the trash, it's really a big waste.

  After the general electric vehicle power battery decays, the average battery capacity of each vehicle is still 15KWh.

  Third, for the energy storage market, cost is also a key factor restricting the commercial development of the industry. Therefore, the demand for low-cost energy storage solutions is also very urgent. If low-cost battery solutions can be obtained through cascading utilization, it will The development of the energy storage industry is also very beneficial.

  The feasibility of battery echelon utilization has been demonstrated more than once.

  First of all, power batteries are used in sets, and the entire set of batteries may become unusable due to the failure of several cells. This means that there are still some cells in this battery pack that have normal performance.

  Secondly, many institutions have done a lot of data testing on recycled batteries and found that many retired power batteries still have acceptable performance in terms of capacity, performance and cycle life.

  All this provides solid evidence for the feasibility of power battery echelon utilization from a technical perspective.

  At home and abroad, echelon utilization is also in the process of research. Although there are some cases of echelon utilization, most of these cases are demonstration in nature. For example, the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission’s “Electric Vehicle Lithium-ion Battery System Full Life Cycle Utilization Technology Research and Demonstration Project Team uses retired power batteries to conduct modification demonstrations on electric field vehicles, electric forklifts and power substation DC systems, and the batteries are recycled after actual testing. Compared with traditional lead-acid batteries, it has certain advantages in performance and is more economical.
