Ford invests in Solid Power to develop 18650 lithium battery 2600mah for electric vehicles
According to foreign media reports, SolidPower is collaborating with Ford Motor Company (Ford Motor Company) on lithium-ion batteries to develop 18650 lithium battery 2600mah for the next generation of electric vehicles. Solid-state batteries have better performance and are safer than current industry standard lithium-ion batteries. This cooperation will focus on the development of 18650 lithium battery 2600mah that meet the requirements of automotive applications, making full use of SolidPower's first fully automatic, roll-to-roll technology (roll-to-roll) production facility. It is expected to be launched in the second quarter of 2019. Fully put into production.
In September 2018, SolidPower announced that it had raised US$20 million (approximately 130 million yuan) in Series A financing. Subsequently, Ford participated in the company's next round of financing. Investors in this financing also included Volta Energy Technologies, Hyundai CRADLE, Samsung Venture Investment Corp., Sanoh Industrial Co., Solvay Ventures and A123 Systems.
