The impact of different charging methods on the service life of 402030 battery
Car websites reported that some 402030 battery returned to the manufacturer by the repair station due to quality problems (mainly no power storage), some of which were recharged by the manufacturer and restored their capacity, and can still be put into use. Before the battery was returned to the manufacturer, the repair station also used a charger for recharging, why did the effect received differ?
The reason is that the chargers used by the repair station are mostly constant voltage charging methods, which are feasible for recharging 402030 battery in good technical condition. However, the car charging system is also a constant voltage charging method, which is mainly convenient to use and does not require special management. When the battery is depleted due to various reasons, it is recharged with a constant voltage charger. Due to the inherent deficiencies of the constant voltage charger, the battery cannot be fully charged, and the sulfidation phenomenon on the plate surface cannot be completely eliminated. After the battery is installed and used, it is easy to have a power failure again. The consequence of such a vicious cycle is that the sulfidation phenomenon on the battery plate surface becomes more and more serious, the capacity of the battery becomes smaller and smaller, and the technical condition of the battery becomes worse and worse. It cannot drive the starter motor into normal operation, and has to be retired from active service in advance and returned to the manufacturer.
The solution to the problem is that the maintenance station uses a smart charger when recharging the battery with low power.
The benefits of using a smart charger are:
1. It can greatly reduce the impact of the large charging current when charging the battery with low power.
2. When charging the battery, the terminal voltage can still maintain a certain charging current after the voltage rises, which can make the battery fully charged, eliminate the sulfidation phenomenon on the surface of the plate, activate the active substances on the plate, and keep the battery in a good technical state.
We know that the plate of the battery with low power is very easy to sulfidate, and the constant voltage charging method is difficult to eliminate the sulfidation phenomenon of the plate. The large charging current during charging is not only used to eliminate the sulfidation phenomenon of the plate, but also electrolyzes water. Therefore, the battery quickly generates a large number of bubbles during charging, giving the illusion that the battery is fully charged. If you observe carefully, you will find that when charging a battery with sulfided plates, a large number of bubbles will be generated quickly, while a normal battery will only generate a large number of bubbles at the end of charging. The time when the bubbles are generated is different, which is a big difference. Due to the sulfation of the plate, the capacity of the battery will be greatly reduced, which directly affects the normal use of the battery. In other words, it is difficult to restore the rated capacity of the battery using the constant voltage charging method.
